Titans sign Clowney to 1-year deal.
Labor Day isn’t traditionally a gift-giving holiday, but the Tennessee Titans just gave fans a huge gift in the form of Jadeveon Clowney.
After months of waiting, the Titans were finally able to come to terms with the EDGE rusher.
The Titans signed Clowney to a one-year, $15 million contract on Saturday, first reported by ESPN’s Dianna Russini and since confirmed by…well everyone.
Tennessee had been making a push for the former #1 overall pick since the start of free agency to patch their biggest hole on the defensive side of the roster. After shipping out long-time veteran Jurrell Casey and cutting Cameron Wake, the Titans were left very thin on the defensive front with no star power to create any pressure on the quarterback.
For the team that made the AFC Championship last season, their arguably biggest hole is now patched with Clowney for a season as the Titans jump back into the contender picture. The Titans opted to bring in Vic Beasley and they already had the up-and-coming Harold Landry on the roster. This addition now makes that duo a formidable trio to rush the passer.
This is one of the biggest free agents the Titans have signed in recent memory. Let’s take a look at Clowney and how he fits into the Titans plans for the season.
