Which trade candidates from the Washington Redskins make the most sense for the Tennessee Titans to target?
Rounding out the NFC East, the Tennessee Titans shift their eyes towards the Washington Redskins.
The biggest question you have to start with when looking at Washington, is what exactly are the Redskins trying to do in 2019?
Sure, everyone is trying to win but more than almost any team in the NFL it feels like the Redskins are going to have to win despite a massive contract that they have no way to get out of.
I am talking about QB Alex Smith who suffered a gruesome, horrifying injury that I won’t link to, but that has threatened his career. That is one of the reasons why the Redskins were forced to draft a quarterback in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
Right now that puts the Redskins in this situation.
-They have to make the playoffs this year or the coaching staff is going to get fired.
-With Alex Smith’s contract, they don’t have the opportunity to make a big move for a player with cutting several veterans/starters.
-GM Bruce Allen is pretty much as safe as a GM can be considering he has been with the franchise for nearly a decade now. It might be better for him to load up on assets for the future to surround Dwayne Haskins with at the cost of this season.
So there is a conflict between that coaching staff and the front office. One has to think short term while the other has to focus on long-term.
Assuming everything is on the table, here are the options I believe make sense in both cases.
