Mock Drafts

4/20/12

Justin put up a full seven round Tennessee Titans mock draft. Here’s who he has them taking in round one:

Round 1- DE Nick Perry, USC

The Titans could go a few ways with this pick but I’m almost positive they’ll address the d-line with it. Nick Perry could very well be on the board when the Titans go to pick and I for one, see a lot of potential in the kid. He’s got great speed, athleticism, and moves. He uses his hands well and knows how to get around OT’s. Whitney Mercilus could still be on the board as well, but I think Perry is the safer, better choice. Either way, whoever the Titans pick will benefit from being put into a solid rotation with Derrick Morgan, Dave Ball, and Kamerion Wimbley.

Other possible choices: DE Whitney Mercilus, S Mark Barron

Chase has his pre-combine draft up!

20. Tennessee Titans
Whitney Mercilus, DE, Illinois
This guy scares me a bit. I would rather have Coples, Ingram, or even Upshaw. Unfortunately for the Titans we pick way to late for any of those guys. Mercilus is a one year wonder with good size and good athleticism. He doesn’t have the rushing repertoire of what you would like in a first round defensive end, but he can certainly develop into a great talent. Other picks could be Kendall Wright or even Devon Still.

Our second mock draft of the year is up!

20. Tennessee Titans
S Mark Barron
Alabama

They need a playmaking DE right here and could very well take Nick Perry but he’s a little small for Gray’s scheme. He occasionally get swallowed up by blockers. The Titans could also use some help on the offensive line but are notoriously stingy with the picks they spend on offensive lineman. Peter Konz would be a great pick here, but they’ll probably pass on him. All of the Titans starting safeties are set to be free agents, though they’ll probably bring back Babineaux. Griffin is likely to leave via free agency so they’ll need another guy back there and Barron’s the top rated safety in the draft. He’s got great size, being 6’2″ and 218 pounds. He’s a playmaker and the Titans will have to take a hard look at him.

Other possible picks: C Peter Konz, DE Nick Perry, DE Whitney Mercilus

20.          Titans-Melvin Ingram, DE, South Carolina

At 6’2” 276lbs Ingram fits the script of a Jerry gray Defensive End. He is a true playmaker and a solid talent among a weak defensive end class. He doesn’t necessarily excel at one particular thing, but he is a well-round football player. Sounds like Morgan…I know. With Floyd, Barron, and Decastro all off the board Ingram might be our best option.
