Tennessee Titans Draft Profile: DE Whitney Merciless, Illinois

AUTHOR: | IN: NFL Draft, Titans | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Here it is. Our third draft profile of the year. I’ve chose to look at the defensive end from Illinois, Whitney Merciless (Mercy-less). Merciless is considered a “one year wonder”, as he only recently burst on to the college scene after three years. Many compare him to another recent “one year wonder” who was taken in the first round of the 2010 NFL draft: Jason Pierre-Paul. We’ve all noticed how that has turned out for the New York Giants after they took him just one pick before the Titans. The Titans were second to last in the league in terms [...]

Mario Williams as a Tennessee Titan seems slightly less far-fetched these days…

AUTHOR: | IN: NFL In General, Titans, Uncategorized | COMMENTS: 5 Comments

So the more I look into things, the more I feel there is absolutely no way the Texans end up signing Williams. As of last season, Houston was only $900,000 under the salary cap. Granted, Williams was in the final year of his contract, which all of us who have ever played Franchise mode in Madden know is typically the highest paid year, and the inital year on his next contract could lower that cap number by about $5 million or so, but there’s a rather large problem despite that: Arian Foster is set to be a free agent. Even though [...]

Tennessee Titans Need a Playmaker

AUTHOR: | IN: NFL Draft, NFL In General, Titans | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Titans need to add a playmaker on the defensive line, plain and simple. Derrick Morgan may rise to the potential the Titans initially saw in him when they drafted him with the 16th pick of the 2011 draft, but he’ll never be that huge game changer. The Titans need to find their version of JPP (man does that ever sting having to say that…). The Titans miss the days of having defensive ends such as Jevon Kearse, also known as “The Freak”, and Kyle Vanden Bosch. Moving Jason Jones to DE appears to have been a bad decision and [...]

Titans in Free Agency – Defense

AUTHOR: | IN: Titans | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

It’s time to take a look at defensive free agents that could fit and improve the Titans defense. I’m sure the Titans will at least take a look at some of these players. Let’s remember that the Titans finished 18th in total defense and next to last in sacks. It will be interesting to see if the Titans address defensive or offensive line with the top picks in the draft, as both are big needs.

Two Former Tennessee Titans Find New Teams

AUTHOR: | IN: NFL Draft, NFL In General, Titans | COMMENTS: None Yet

Sam Sharpe-US PRESSWIRE Both linebacker Rennie Curran and safety Myron Rolle, former Titans, have found new homes in the NFL. Curran recently signed a reserve/future contract for 2012 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Curran was a big leader on the defense in Georgia where he was a Bulldog but didn’t fit into the new Titans defensive coordinator’s (Jerry Gray) plans and was released after the 2011 preseason. The same can be said of Myron Rolle, who just signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Rolle took a year off from college football as a Rhodes scholar and continued his studies in England. Upon [...]

Britt Pleads Guilty to Lesser Charges

AUTHOR: | IN: Titans | COMMENTS: None Yet

Kenny Britt plead guilty to a charge of disturbing the peace today, a downgraded charge from what had originally been giving to the receiver who was accused of destroying a marijuana cigar at a car wash this past summer. The cigar was never found but with all the legal troubles Britt had this summer he’s probably just trying to get past it all and move on to greener pastures. He’s moved to Tennessee and trying to leave his old troubles in the past. The charge carried a $1,500 fine which Britt paid. The remainder of his charges were dismissed Tuesday. [...]

Apparently we all really, really want Peyton Manning to come to Nashville

AUTHOR: | IN: NFL In General, Titans | COMMENTS: 7 Comments

So this is the first I’ve heard of such a thing, but apparently we, the Titans faithful, are chomping at the bit to bring Peyton to LP Field. Some local cats have started a web-site dedicated to raising money in an attempt to lure Manning to Nashville. I guess we’re figuring if Broncos fans could force Tebow to start, so we can force Manning to come here. You can peep the site here. Look, I don’t think anybody is gonna say Peyton Manning doesn’t make a team better. It’s just that he is likely gonna pull in anywhere from $10-15 million. [...]

Nike Reveals 2012 NFL Cleats

AUTHOR: | IN: NFL In General, Titans | COMMENTS: None Yet

Just a couple days after revealing the Nike Vapor gloves that NFL teams will be using in 2012, Nike has given us another batch of eye candy. Here are all 32 teams cleats they’ll be wearing in 2012. I for one, think they look pretty nice. They aren’t too crazy and give the imagination a little bit of direction as to what the new uniforms may look like. Nike still hasn’t given a date for the release of the new uniforms, but after my article the other day, in which I quoted the South Florida Sun-Sentinal as saying the uniforms [...]

This Day in History: Titans Lose Superbowl XXXIV by One Yard

AUTHOR: | IN: NFL In General, Titans | COMMENTS: None Yet

Twelve years ago on January 30th, 2000 the Tennessee Titans fell short of pushing the Superbowl to overtime by one yard. One excruciating yard that will haunt every Titans fan until the day the Titans get back to the Superbowl and win it. We all know the story. The Titans were getting shutout in the first half but started to rally in the second half and were within a touchdown in the final minutes of the game. They pushed down the field and made a final go at the end zone, McNair throwing the ball to Kevin Dyson. Dyson turns [...]

Nike Releases Pictures of New NFL Vapor Jet Gloves

AUTHOR: | IN: NFL In General, Titans | COMMENTS: None Yet

Nike recently released their glove plans for all 32 NFL teams Vapor gloves for the upcoming season. They take after the gloves we’ve seen in college football from the likes of Oregon and Alabama. You can see the rest of the NFL’s gloves on NFLSpinZone.com. The gloves are pretty cool, but I feel like Nike could have been a little more creative than they were with them. Putting the teams logo in the middle of the gloves just seems a little contrived (I can say that. I’m also an artist). What should they have done? I don’t know. It’s not [...]
