One injury to worry about and one to ignore for Tennessee Titans

Some pretty big news coming out of Tennessee Titans OTAs.

In case you missed it, both DeMarco Murray and Tajae Sharpe recently had surgery for the Tennessee Titans.

After reading and gathering information, I am completely unconcerned about one. The other is really scary.

Luckily (in the grand scheme of things) DeMarco Murray’s hand injury seems to be the injury to almost ignore. The link above from NFL.com’s Marc Sessler has this quote from Murray:

“‘You know, like I said [it’s] just a little lingering issue that, you know, [we] thought, might as well just get it done now,’ said Murray, who added that he initially suffered the injury during Week 2 of the 2016 season.”

It is something that he suffered early in the season last year that is painful, but didn’t affect his production.

This seems like something we will completely forget about in about a month.

The Tajae Sharpe injury is much more concerning for one reason. Apparently his injury is similar to what Kevin Dodd had last year, though on a smaller scale.

In case you haven’t read any of my Dodd posts before, I am very concerned that Dodd will struggle to get to his full potential with his foot injury.

Now for the Tennessee Titans, this isn’t the worst case scenario. If they were really concerned they could go out and trade for Eric Decker right now. It wouldn’t cost more than a 6th or 7th round pick, maybe even a swap.

However, for Tajae Sharpe this could be very damaging to his career.

With Corey Davis developing and getting healthier one of the starting wide receiver spots was already going to be heavily contested, at best.

The hidden threat for Sharpe may be Taywan Taylor who has been drawing rave reviews in OTAs. A three WR package of Davis/Rishard Matthews/Taylor is going to see a lot of time this summer.

If Tajae Sharpe can’t get back to full health, he risks losing his job to a pair of rookies. That would be a shame because I really think Sharpe can be a nice piece on this Tennessee Titans offense.
