The Tennessee Titans made a number of moves on the defensive side of the ball during early free agency and the 2015 Draft, so it’s time to give them a little more ink. We spent most of last week oohing and awing over our new quarterback, so let’s get this week started talking about the defense. Not only was there a lot of buzz when the Titans hired legendary defensive mind, Dick LeBeau, but I like some of the personnel move the team has made as well.

Titans’ Perrish Cox learns from past, hungry for future – John Glennon The Tennessean

The 28 year-old posted a breakout season in San Francisco last year, signed a three-year, $15 million deal with the Titans in March, and is penciled in as a starter on a team seeking help in the secondary. Cox says his difficult past has helped shape him into a better person and made him appreciate all he’s been given.

"“I feel like I’ve learned everything from back then — how to be a great father, how to be a great son to my parents,” said Cox, who has a daughter.“It also showed me that what you love to do can be taken away from you just like that. Former Penn State tackle DaQuan Jones was an All-Big Ten talent at his position in 2013. In 2014, he was picked in the fourth round by the Tennessee Titans.

His NFL position of the future could be elsewhere, though, according to Titans’ head coach Ken Whisenhunt.

The New York native played in seven games with the franchise in 2014, starting one, and totaled eight tackles, a forced fumble, and a sack. He played some defensive end, despite his 6-foot-4, 322 pound frame, and could start their for Tennessee in its 3-4 scheme in 2015.

Sammie Hill suffers knee injury – John Glennon The Tennessean

Titans defensive tackle Sammie Hill suffered a knee injury during Tuesday’s OTA session and had to leave the practice field.

Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt said he didn’t believe the injury was too serious. Hill said he’ll get an MRI on the knee.

"“It’s a little sore,” Hill said, “so we’ll figure out what’s going on with it.”"
