Former Tennessee Titans Kicker Rob Bironas Dies at 36

Sad news headlined Tennessee Titans social media today. It has been reported that former Tennessee Titans placekicker Rob Bironas was killed in a car accident late Saturday night. Bironas was just 36 years of age. According to authorities, Bironas was involved in a single-vehicle accident located in the 800 block of Battery Lane around 11 p.m. Saturday.

It was also reported that Rob Bironas was traveling at a high rate of speed when he turned onto Battery Lane. He loss control of his SUV which went off the road and hit several trees before ending up in a drainage culvert. The vehicle landed upside down.

Bironas was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The Metro Police spokesman, Don Aaron reported that Biroans had appeared to be heading home when he turned onto Battery Lane. He also reported that there appeared to be no evidence of alcohol involved.

Rob Bironas spent nine seasons as the placekicker for the Tennessee Titans. His career with the Titans accumulated 1,032 points, which was just 28 points shy of Houston Oilers/Tennessee Titans franchise leader, Al Del Greco.

The Titans organization had this to say of the recent death of Rob Bironas:

"“We are deeply saddened to hear the tragic news from last night about Rob Bironas. Rob made a significant impact as a player in his nine years with the team and more importantly touched many lives in the Nashville community off the field. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife, Rachel, and his family during this very difficult time.”"

Bironas leaves behind wife Rachel Bradshaw, the daughter of Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Terry Bradshaw, who Bironas had just married in June.
