A New York Jets backfield with either Michael Vick or Geno Smith will now feature former Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson. Suddenly, the Jets will have a ton of people who use them in next year’s Madden installment.
At least one interesting storyline is attached to the 2014 regular-season matchup between the Jets and Titans. Shonn Greene and Johnson will face off against one another, a little awkward when one considers that Johnson started his career with Tennessee and Greene started his career as a complementary back with New York. The Titans have beaten the Jets in each of the last two seasons. One can bet that Johnson will look forward to facing his former teammates.
The Titans are left with a backfield committee that includes Greene, Jackie Battle, utilityman Dexter McCluster and return specialist Leon Washington. One can bet that the team will use one of its six 2014 draft picks on a running back. They need someone who can excel in a committee role before becoming a three-down back during the 2015 season. The Titans are potential suitors to use a second-rounder on top running back prospects such as Carlos Hyde and Tre Mason.
Contract details have yet to be announced other than it’s a two-year deal. Rest assured that it’s not anywhere near the $8 million he was scheduled to make in Nashville.
