The Tennessee Titans had brought in a few guards over the last few days. It appears as though they’re still wanting to bring back 32-year-old Chris Spencer on a one-year contract. In his first season with Tennessee, Spencer appeared in all 16 games during the 2013-14 NFL season. He made one start. His main job was to provide veteran depth behind Andy Levitre, Chance Warmack, Rob Turner and Brian Schwenke.
Nothing flashy. Spencer was one of a few reserve offensive linemen who became free agents. The Titans already have their starting unit solidified with Michael Roos, Levitre, Schwenke, Warmack and newcomer Michael Roos. Only possible job up for grabs would depend on whether incoming head coach Ken Whisenhunt wasn’t satisfied with last year’s fourth-round pick Schwenke. Barring injury, I’d be surprised to see Schwenke not get at least one more season.
Spencer may or may not add depth. We’ll see if he makes it out of training camp. His whereabouts have zero effect on what this team will do during the 2014 NFL Draft.
