William Oberst:

As far as Johnny Manziel goes, I am not the biggest fan.  His style of play is not fitted for the NFL in terms of turning out to be a franchise quarterback.  Eventually, his reckless style of play, poor decision making, and his lack of ability to read coverages, line protection, and blitzes, will come back to haunt his reputation for being an “exciting player.”  With all of that being said.  There is no way the Vikings can truly believe Christian Ponder is better for their franchise than Johnny Football.  They need to take a flier on a guy like Johnny Manziel.  He is box office, and with the new regime in Minnesota, they will be able to grow with Johnny as he progresses into a franchise quarterback.

Derek Carr, QB, Fresno State (1)

Scott Bakalian:

The Vikings are still searching for their franchise QB. Unfortunately, there are several teams in the top 5 also looking for QB’s. Derek Carr’s draft stock seems to be on the rise after his successful pro day. He could make an impact under the tutelage of new OC Norv Turner. Minnesota needs to continue to build the offense if they want to keep pace in the high-flying NFC North.
