What was obvious to anyone who follows NFL compensatory draft pick rules just became official today: the Tennessee Titans will not receive any additional selections on top of the six original picks that they had for the 2014 NFL Draft. That’s one of the consequences for teams who remain active during free agency. During the 2013 offseason, some of the Titans signings included Andy Levitre, Bernard Pollard, Ropati Pitoitua, Shonn Greene and Delanie Walker. Only one AFC South team added to their draft basket. The Houston Texans were rewarded with picks 135, 211 and 256. Their 2013 losses included Alan Ball, Connor Barwin, James Casey, Justin Forsett, Donnie Jones, Glover Quin. That turnover helped give them a plentiful 2014 draft where they’ll have a chance to bounce back with rookie head coach Bill O’Brien.
Expect the Titans to get a compensatory pick in 2015. They received an additional third-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft after Cortland Finnegan signed with the St. Louis Rams during the 2012 offseason. Losing Alterraun Verner should net them something respectable.
