The Tennessee Titans gave us all a tease in 2013 as they started 3-1. For a second, everyone thought they might give a serious run at the AFC South division title. After all, with the Houston Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars taking a dive, there seemed to be a realistic path to success.
Jake Locker battled injuries early and late, though, and the Titans stumbled to a mediocre 7-9 finish under the guidance of backup quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick. Throw in a so-so season from Chris Johnson and an improving but beatable defense, and the Titans just weren’t up to the task of making the playoffs. As probably expected going into the season, failure to make a trip to pos-season play caused heads to roll.
Ken Whisenhunt enters 2014 as Tennessee’s new head coach, and right away he’ll have to make several key decisions. Tennessee will almost certainly cut ties with Chris Johnson and Kenny Britt, while many other moves could be made across the board.
