Former Houston Oilers offensive guard and Tennessee Titans offensive line coach / head coach Mike Munchak spent 31 seasons with the organization. That’s why it may surprise some fans that he’d accept a job as the offensive line coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers are considered as one of the Titans’ primary rivals, mostly stemming from their AFC Central days.
Keep an eye on the 2014-15 NFL schedule. The Titans are scheduled to host the Steelers. Dates have not yet been determined. Likely, the NFL will announce game dates in late April or early May. Imagine Munchak in Steelers attire on their sideline as he’s coaching his offensive linemen against the Ken Whisenhunt-led Titans.
Always remember: money talks. Munchak may have spent 31 seasons with this organization. Despite that, he’s not going to decline a job and postpone his financial well-being just because one of the teams who offered him a position was a rival of Tennessee. Don’t expect coaches / executives to look at other jobs with the same outlook as a fan.
Best of luck to Munchak. Hopefully, his offensive will play well and the Steelers…well, can’t wish them victories, can we? Certainly not against Tennessee next season.
So many of the former Steelers coaches on Tennessee’s current staff and Munchak on Pittsburgh’s current staff. Expect a great game.
