For the moment, he’s still the franchise quarterback. We saw enough out of backup Ryan Fitzpatrick to know he’s not the answer. With Jay Cutler sticking with the Chicago Bears, it’s highly unlikely another veteran passer comes in and takes over under center. That almost certainly means a rookie passer, Locker and Fitzpatrick will duke it out for the top quarterback spot.

Until we know who that fresh face might be, Locker has to be the favorite to start under center again. Given his elite athleticism and big arm, it’s still hard to ignore his evident upside. He’s no lock to shine in 2014 and finally “get it,” but he’ll absolutely be on sleeper alert if he’s once again the main man under center.
