This is perhaps one of the most overlooked challenges facing the Tennessee Titans this offseason.
Cornerback Alterraun Verner, the stand-out player of the year for the Titans, was just nominated to his first Pro Bowl. With five interceptions and one touchdown, there’s no doubt that he’ll be a hot product on the free-agent market if he chooses to go that route.
That being said, Wyatt’s tweet seems to indicate that the all-pro cornerback may be partial to staying with his 7-9 team, despite the questionable future of the franchise. If the Titans can retain Verner in addition to other big playmakers such as Bernard Pollard, there may be less clean-up to do on the defensive side of the ball this offseason.
Verner is one of many question marks surrounding the team as a whole. Needless to say, it’s going to be a long winter for this squad.
