Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Munchak may finish his coaching career without a playoff appearance. At least he can now claim that he coached a Pro Bowler. For the first time since the 2010-11 NFL season, the Titans will have someone represent them in the NFL’s version of an All-Star Game.

Cornerback Alterraun Verner was selected to his first Pro Bowl appearance. Funny…wasn’t Verner the player who the coaching staff was trying to replace with Tommie Campbell? There was preseason talk about how Verner didn’t fit into the re-modified defense. Some folks had suggested that the team should move him to safety or trade him before the season started, possibly in an effort to recoup the third-round pick that they had traded during the 2013 NFL Draft.

Exciting times for Verner. According to TitansOnline.com, Verner’s wife is pregnant and expects to deliver around the Pro Bowl date. Following that, Verner will become a free agent who’ll look to cash in on his career-best season.

Congratulations to Verner and here’s to many more seasons in Nashville.  The 2014 Pro Bowl will be played Jan. 26 and air live on NBC at 7 p.m. ET from Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii.
