Tennessee Titans: Recap, Studs, Duds, Grades vs Indianapolis Colts

Moise Fokou (Boneheaded unsportsmanlike conduct penalty results in three points for Indianapolis)

Ryan Fitzpatrick (21-of-37 for 201 yards with one touchdown and four turnovers (three interceptions))

Akeem Ayers (2 Offside penalties, 1 Tackle with a quarterback hit and tackle-for-loss)

Taylor Thompson (No catches on three targets)

Every college football enthusiast has talked about how unreal that end-of-game moment was between the Alabama Crimson Tide and Auburn Tigers. For as unreal as it was, Fokou’s away-from-the-play unsportsmanlike conduct penalty was equal in terms of unreal…unreal stupidity.

With no time left on the clock, the Titans should’ve gone into halftime down 9-7. Instead, Fokou blasts someone who’s across the field and nowhere near the play. That’s a 15-yard penalty and a free play with 0:00. Adam Vinatieri makes a chip-shot field goal.

I guess that’s Fokou’s way of showing “Be a pro, do your job.” I’m thinking more like “Be a d’oh!, lose your job.” Just unbelievable ignorance and lack of discipline.

What about Fitzpatrick? That stat line doesn’t tell how bad he played. He had receivers open; he just missed them. High, low, sideways, you name it. On one play, Nate Washington had a 31-yard reception. It should’ve been a touchdown but he was led out of bounds.

Ayers continues to do little-to-nothing. Some of Thompson’s ineffectiveness was due to Fitzpatrick’s passing.

This game was more about how bad a couple players were and not how many players were bad. Fokou just gives away points and Fitzpatrick was hideous. Play like that against Peyton Manning? You’ll see a 2012-ish blowout.
