Ben Greene (8-2)
Tennessee Titans 23
Oakland Raiders 17
Gut check time. The Titans need to get their act together to have any hope of a .500 record this year, much less a playoff berth. A win over the 4-6 Raiders needs to be this team’s first step toward salvaging this season.
Tennessee showed early last Thursday that its running game is still alive and kicking, but the defense’s inability to get off the field in the second half – coupled with Devon Wylie’s costly fumble – made the Titans’ offense one-dimensional. Tennessee will need to rely on Chris Johnson to win the time of possession battle in this upcoming road game and control the tempo.
Defensively, the Titans’ pass rush has not showed up consistently this year. Jerry Gray and Gregg Williams should dial up a few blitzes to keep rookie quarterback Matt McGloin off balance. If Tennessee doesn’t take advantage of this opportunity, the team doesn’t deserve to win.
