Above are the fan poll results for the Oct. 2 question, “Do you prefer Fitzpatrick, Hasselbeck or someone else?” That poll came from this article, which asked fans how they felt about the Tennessee Titans replacing Matt Hasselbeck with Ryan Fitzpatrick.
Approximately 60 percent of respondents believe that Fitzpatrick puts this team in the best spot for handling Jake Locker’s absence. There were some readers who believed that neither of those two quarterbacks were the best option. While they didn’t specify, they probably felt like Tim Tebow, Vince Young, or the recently released Josh Freeman provided superior No. 2 quarterback options.
There’s no doubt that this fan base has a lot of differing opinions on what the Titans should do with their quarterback situation. Regardless, all that matters is Fitzpatrick is the No. 2 quarterback who has been promoted to the starter role. He’ll have at least three games to prove that general manager Ruston Webster made the right decision when he swapped backup quarterbacks. The Titans ‘ playoff hopes rely on him leading victories in at least one of these games. With this defense, there’s no reason that he can’t lead two wins.
The Fitzpatrick era begins when the Titans host the Chiefs on Oct. 6. Expect a challenging test against one of the NFL’s stingiest defenses.
