Week 4 Preview
Two teams with similar identities who took similar journeys to their 2-1 records. Many critics had the Titans and Jets no better than 1-2, some at 0-3. Stingy defenses and late-game heroics—and a bit of luck—have helped these teams excel beyond those early-season expectations.
Titans quarterback Jake Locker comes off arguably his best career NFL performance. Against the San Diego Chargers in Week 3, Locker completed 23-of-37 for 299 yards. He had five carries for 68 yards with a designed seven-yard touchdown run. Headlining his performance was a 10-play, 94-yard touchdown drive with 2:05 remaining. That sealed the 20-17 win.
Can Locker duplicate that success against the Jets defense? The Titans go from playing a team that surrendered 370 passing yards per game to Rex Ryan, one of the NFL’s finest defensive minds. The Jets rely on a strong pass-rush from their front seven. The Titans have struggled in pass protection, especially Rob Turner. Leading that unit is Muhammad Wilkerson, who has three sacks in three contests.
Check out some keys to victory for the Titans and 10 players who everyone should pay attention to on both teams.
