(Griffin had something come up and wasn’t able to produce an observation before the Wednesday night deadline. He should have one completed before the weekend. He was able to tell me that he expects Chris Johnson to run all over the Texans defense. Titans win).

It’s tempting for me to be a homer early in the season and always pick the Titans, but I’m going to be realistic. Last week I picked the Titans because I see them as being on the upswing and Pittsburgh being on the downswing. I felt the Titans would be able to play ball control and that the D-Line would rule the day.
I believe it will be a similar game plan with Houston. The Titans will be patient and pound the ball; but that won’t be enough. Jake Locker will be required to make more plays this week than he is capable of. He’ll get picked off, I’m afraid, at least once for a score. The short passing game is just not sound enough to compliment the running game. I’m hopeful this will improve as well as the play action game. With the Titans speed and potential on O-Line they should develop into a good screen team which will help Locker shore up his passing stats and confidence; but that will come more mid season. This week: Titans 17 Texans 24
