A lot of people have a love/hate relationship with Tennessee Titans wide receiver Damian Williams because they believe he has “stone hands.”
Williams enters his fourth season with the Titans. He still has a lot to prove. Last season, Williams had 30 receptions for 324 yards. This was with limited action. The Titans drafted the 6-1 product out of the University of Southern California. He was drafted in the third round of the 2010 NFL draft.
Williams had his best season in 2011. He caught 45 passes for 592 yards and five touchdowns. He started 13 games that season. In three seasons, Williams has started a total of 16 games which would combine for a full season. In those 16 games, Williams had 91 receptions for 1,135 yards and five touchdowns. Now Williams is only 25 years old and he may not start for team unless an injury occurs. That won’t keep him from seeing plenty of snaps.
Williams and Jake Locker have had chemistry ever since Jake arrived in Nashville. He has been one of Jake’s favorite targets when given the opportunity on and off the field. Jake only has 11 starts under his belt. With more time to work with Williams, I can see this chemistry only getting better.
Sure Williams has dropped passes…who hasn’t?
In the offseason, Williams decided to train in Dallas, Texas with Olympic sprinters such as Usain Bolt. When you see a player go out of his way to get better, it shows that the player has passion for the game. Williams has said he feels much faster this offseason. It has showed.
He also seems much more aggressive and seems to have worked on his hands. This was shown throughout training camp and preseason as he has caught every pass thrown to him. Williams will surprise a lot of people this season and make a splash for the Titans. Expect him to make some big contributions to this offensive unit and help Locker out in the process.
In D-Will I Trust.
