Former Tennessee Titans linebacker Keith Bulluck has been doing color commentary during preseason games for WKRN ABC. A few hours after the Titans defeated the Atlanta Falcons 27-16, Bulluck was arrested for a class C felony robbery charge. He allegedly stole $100 from a taxi drive on Church Street. The driver claimed that he was hit and had a torn shirt. Earliest reports are indicating that alcohol intoxication may have played a role in this dispute.
WSMV Channel 4 has more about that incident, here.
It’s a little too early to condemn anybody here. This was either a very foolish emotional outburst or something doesn’t add up because all the details haven’t been released. Is Bulluck truly that desperate for an extra $100—doesn’t seem likely.
Let’s see how it plays out and wait to see what Bulluck has to say about it. He isn’t the type of person who one would expect this from. Why would he put himself in this predicament for such a tiny amount of cash?
His court date is set for Sep. 26.
UPDATE (via The Tennessean). Statement from Bulluck:
I was out with friends last night in Nashville and was taking a cab home. There was a misunderstanding between me and the cab driver about getting my money back for a service not rendered. At 2 a.m., things could easily get lost in translation, but regardless of who was right or wrong, I regret putting myself in that situation.
