And that’s what the rest of the world was thinking on Saturday night when Mr. Automatic—Rob Bironas—missed two easy kicks.
Tennessee Titans fans aren’t completely unfamiliar with the concept of missed scoring opportunities (see: last season). But the fact of the matter is that the team needs to get better. This means no missed field goals—or dropped balls—by the squad as a whole.
One could argue that there’s little head coach Mike Munchak can do about these particular situations. After all, it isn’t him who drops catches. He isn’t the one lining up and missing critical kicks. However, the key takeaway from Saturday night’s loss against the Cincinnati Bengals is that the Titans need to get on the same page. Sporadic moments of success on offense and defense can only do so much when facing another team that’s clicking on all cylinders.
The Titans play the Atlanta Falcons next Saturday at 8 p.m. EST. Hopefully by then, they can work out the kinks.
