Tennessee Titans Starters to Play 30 Plays vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Want to see the Tennessee Titans starters get some significant playing time? Their first regular-season game won’t happen until Sep. 8, 2013. Until then, fans must settle for the second and third preseason games.

There’s good news for those who want to watch Titans football but don’t want to spend the entire evening seeing players who have little-to-no chance at making the final roster. Head coach Mike Munchak expects the starters to get an ample amount of playing time, probably somewhere close to 40 percent of the snaps. From the Tennessee Titans official Twitter account:

Maybe that’s a bit more of an aggressive approach than other teams would use. It’s understandable when one considers all of the new players on this roster. Jake Locker, rookies and other free-agent additions need the additional reps so they can develop a chemistry with one another. Don’t forget Locker and some of the other starters played well into the first half in the preseason opener.

Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean had some more information for the upcoming preseason matchup:

No surprise on the injuries. The Titans centers are taking turns starting different games. With A.J. Green sidelined, Tommie Campbell has no excuse to perform poorly. Either Campbell starts taking this opportunity and running with it—or he’ll find himself buried on the depth chart. Again.

Starters receiving significant playing time against a solid team. This is a preseason game worth watching.
