Two weeks ago, sports talk radio host Joe Dubin announced four players who he argued should make the Tennessee Titans Mount Rushmore. One of his four inclusions: Kyle Vanden Bosch. Not among his top four: Jevon Kearse. That didn’t go over well with some fans, who took to Twitter to voice their disapproval.
Did Dubin sway any opinions with his pick and reasoning? Titan Sized wanted to see readers felt about the question. On June 27, Titan Sized asked the question, “Tennessee Titans Mount Rushmore: Which DE was More Deserving?” Kearse and Vanden Bosch were the only options.
This poll featured 86 respondents. If these voters had to choose between just these two players for an appearance on Mount Rushmore, 68 of them (79.07 percent) went with “The Freak.” That’s not surprising when one considers how much of an impact that Kearse made during the late 1990s and early 2000s. He played a significant role in helping that defense become one of the NFL’s most feared units. During the AFC Champion 1999-00 NFL season, Kearse had 14.5 sacks. He followed that up with two consecutive seasons with 10-plus sacks.
Not much to say about these results. This lopsided result was expected. Production outdid character. Then again, it’s not as though Kearse had poor character. Both were good players but Kearse made his presence more well-known.
