2010 NFL Draft Report Card Fan Grade
Team: Tennessee Titans
Round 3, Pick 97: Rennie Curran, LB, Georgia
Calculated Votes: 29
STAFF GRADES: Here
FAN GRADE: 26.9 (F)
FAN GRADE W/ CURVE (17 votes): 45.88 (F)
It appears as though Titan Sized readers don’t adhere to the generous “20 points for making the team, 20 points for staying out of trouble” theory that I used when I gave Curran a grade of “40,” the lowest grade among staff members.
Of 29 respondents, 12 people felt the necessity to give Curran a “0.” Seven passing grades (4Ds, 3Cs) weren’t enough to save Curran from a final grade of 26.9. Even when the zeroes are removed from that equation, Curran had a grade of 45.88. That’s nowhere near a passing mark.
Count this as proof that top-tier SEC teams are no match for any NFL team. Now if Curran dominates with the Edmonton Eskimos? Fans can shift their attention toward “CFL vs. SEC” arguments. Could Alabama beat the worst CFL team? What about one of the currently defunct XFL teams from the early 2000s?
All I have to say about these grades: why would anyone grade Curran with a C or even D? That’s like a college student who gets a “C” just because he or she attended the final exam, although every question on the answer sheet was left blank.
Stay tuned as Titan Sized continues this series of 2010 NFL Draft report cards.
