These poll results show that there are significantly different opinions for Williams, who’ll fight to keep his roster spot during training camp. Williams received grades that ranged from six 90s (A) to four 20s (F). Most readers agreed with the Titan Sized staff and graded him within the 60-80 range. 22 of the 50 votes (44 percent) were in the 70s.
Why hasn’t Williams reached his potential? There are many reasons—or what some would call excuses—for that. Dowell Loggains marks his third different offensive coordinator in four seasons. Chris Palmer never appeared to use his players’ talents in favorable situations. Williams has been stashed on a depth chart that already includes two former first-round picks with Kenny Britt (2009) and Kendall Wright (2012). Justin Hunter was taken No. 34 overall in the 2013 NFL Draft.
Heading into his fourth season, Damian Williams will try to win the No. 5 or No. 6 spot versus a group of receivers that includes Michael Preston, Marc Mariani, Darius Reynaud and Kevin Walter. Mariani vs. Reynaud will account for at least one of those positions (to be fair, Reynaud is more of an all-around athlete who plays running back). That would leave Williams vs. Preston vs. Walter for one job.
