The Tennessee Titans have signed DE Ropati Pitoitua to a one-year deal, lessening the need for depth at the position. Obviously, the signing isn’t one of the big exciting ones like we saw early on with the Titans, but it was a much needed signing. Pitoitua comes in at 6’8, 315 lbs.
Pitoitua’s big body will most likely be used on run downs, along side the likes of DT’s Sammie Hill and Jurrell Casey.
Here’s a quick look at Pitoitua’s career thus far, courtesy of ESPN.com:
The Titans are still likely to use an early pick on a defensive end. Though the addition of Pitoitua gives them another body at the position, they still need a guy who excels at getting to the QB, something that is obviously not Pitoitua’s forte.
Heading towards the 2013 NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans could look a few different ways with their early picks. Two picks that seem cemented are safety and defensive end. Other than that, the Titans could take a swing at a cornerback, offensive lineman, or even a receiver.
This could be the Titans final free agent signing before the draft. Their focus should now be turning towards the future draftees they are bringing in for visits.
