The Tennessee Titans have bolstered their offensive line once again with the signing of OL Rob Turner, formerly of the St. Louis Rams and New York Jets.
While Turner doesn’t sound like he’ll be the guy they’ll be starting opposite of LG Andy Levitre, he looks to be a solid depth signing that can step in if necessary.
Turner did start 16 games for the St. Louis Rams in 2012 after they suffered injuries along the line, including the loss of their C Scott Wells. Turner spent time at both C and OG.
This takes a little more weight off the Titans to take an offensive lineman with the 10th overall pick of the 2013 NFL Draft, though it still certainly leaves the door open.
Fernando Velasco, who is widely thought to return as the Titans starting center for the 2013 season is still waiting for a contract for the Titans, who’ve only gone as far as to place a 2nd-round tender on him.
The Titans have been linked to draft prospects OG Jonathan Cooper, OG Chance Warmack, and OG Larry Warford in multiple mock drafts. Depending on how the rest of free agency plays out and how the Titans feel about those players, we could see any of them join the Titans with their 1st round or 2nd round pick, though Warford is the only one likely to be on the board in the 2nd round.
