TE Martellus Bennett to Chicago Bears, Off Titans List

Martellus Bennett was off the market before free agency ever even truly opened, apparently, as the news immediately broke that he would sign with the Chicago Bears this evening.

That’s one player to scratch off the Titans board of possible TE replacements, as well as possible homes for former Titans TE Jared Cook.

Perhaps that leaves the negotiation door open for the Titans, who made very clear that they wanted to bring him back, as he’s an integral part of what they’re trying to do on offense. That being said, the news has also come to the forefront that the Tennessee Titans are interested in the 49ers TE Delanie Walker.

I don’t have much to say on that front, besides the fact that it surprises me that they’re possibly thinking of replacing Jared Cook with a former 6th round pick, of which I’ve heard little about. You could also blame that lack of knowledge on the fact that I don’t follow the 49ers closely.

Things are out of control. Crazy. Free agency opened 17 minutes ago.

Walker would be a huge upgrade, over bennet and cook. versitale player, great blocker and receiving threat. Bennett also seems to have character issues as well. while I’m sure having to put up with the circus that is Dallas was frustrating u still have to do ur job. there were plenty of questions involving his work ethic during his time there. so what u have with Bennett is a guy who is unhappy with his team for one reason or another and decides to let it affect his play…sound familiar? He showed his skill in NY, but personally I just don’t like guys like that. you should do the job ur employer pays u to do.

Yeah. I wouldn’t want Bennett. Completely agree with what you said. With Walker, I’ve heard he led the league with the worst drop % this last year?

Personally, I want Dustin Keller. But that’s just me.

I honestly dont know about the drop %, but thats obviously an important
stat. If you check out the TD in the super bowl where Gore scores down
near the goalline. Pay attention to Walker, he puts a beautiful block
on Ed Reed. I may be wrong about Gore being the ball carrier, couldve
been Kaepernick, either way check the block out. He made that play,
thats just one play of course but I noticed him alot and I dont even
follow the niners. He just seemed to be one of those really dependable
guys that made alot of impact plays that go unnoticed. While the stat
your talking about directly contradicts “dependable”, haha thats just the vibe I got when I saw him play this past season.
Either way the Titans would be much better with Keller or Walker. The
last thing they need is a guy that whines and quits when things go south.
