Tight end Martellus Bennett is coming off a career year with the Giants, and has publicly stated that he would love to play with his brother, Michael. Michael Bennett is coming off a solid season with the Buccaneers, posting nine sacks. Coincidentally they are both free agents, and both productive and affordable.
Martellus would provide a big, athletic tight end who can receive and block. Martellus had been considered an underachieving physical specimen while in Dallas. But once he made the move to New York, he flourished and was productive and a reliable target for Eli Manning.
Michael would provide more pressure off the edge, and would fit in nicely in a rotation with defensive ends Kamerion Wimbley and Derrick Morgan, and hopefully another young body added in the upcoming draft. Michael is a big body at 6’4” and weighing in at 274lbs. Coach Mike Munchak has recently said they are looking to add more bulk to the line. Michael brings both bulk and pressure off the edge.
Edge rushers Cliff Avril and Paul Kruger are more appealing than Bennett, however, being able to land both brothers would be a plus, addressing two areas of need for the Titans, and they could be obtained for much cheaper.
The Titans should consider reuniting the Bennett brothers; they would instantly fill two holes the Titans desperately need and let them move their focus to the upcoming draft.
