The Tennessee Titans enjoyed a good visit with the veteran free agent strong safety George Wilson earlier this week. Wilson met with all of the Titans coaches and they made very clear what his role with the Titans would be and what they would expect from him.
I had a great visit with everybody in Tennessee, and an opportunity to sit down with Gregg Williams and talk about his vision for the Tennessee Titans defense next season and what his mind-set was. And I had a great sit down with Coach Munchak and him giving me an expectation of me would be and what type of environment and culture he tries to set around the facility. Everything was definitely very positive.
Wilson made it clear that he’d like to check all his options before making a decision on his next team. He said he could definitely see himself playing for the Titans in 2013. Having family in the Nashville area could be a factor that weighs in the Titans favor. Wilson expects his agents to speak to NFL teams later in the week at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis.
When I first heard the Titans were going to bring Wilson in, I wasn’t so sure about their chances of landing him, but after his visit, their odds seem to have increased. The Titans would love to have a solid veteran next to Griffin in the backfield, as opposed to having a rookie, which is what they’ll be looking at if they miss on Wilson.
Wilson would be a great addition for the Titans. The coaches have to get this team to the playoffs to keep their jobs. Wilson would certainly put them in a better position to do so.
What do you think? Do you want Wilson or would you prefer a rookie from the upcoming draft?
