Steve McNair will always be a Tennessee Titans legend. He’ll always be missed. It’s hard to believe that today should have been his 40th birthday. I didn’t remember until I came across Jim Wyatt’s blog post recapping McNair’s top-5 memorable moments in the NFL.
McNair was a hell of a football player and it’s hard not to think of him and see him scrambling free of tackles in what seems an impossible moment to extent a drive with a great pass. McNair could play through almost any injury and showed so much heart. It unfortunate he wasn’t able to walk away from the Super Bowl with a ring, but his performance in it was a classic McNair moment.
In the fall of 2012, A Football Life did an episode on McNair, looking at him from his earliest days of football to the legacy he has left behind after his death. It’s a great look at his life and it gets me every time. So on McNair’s birthday, I’ll share the video with you once again like I did back in October.

I love that video. Probably the best video involving the Titans that you could ever watch. McNair is the foundation that the Tennessee Titans are built on. He came with them through the transition of moving from Houston to Nashville and lead them to their only Super Bowl thus far. It’s a shame that Bud Adams treated him so unceremoniously when he cut ties with him. He deserved much better than that.
Happy birthday, McNair. I wish you were still here to celebrate it with us. You were taken far too young. We’ll always remember you.
