The Tennessee Titans seem to be on the verge of making an actually surprising offseason move by hiring former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams to be the assistant head coach of the Tennessee Titans.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Titans are right on the verge of hiring him, though nothing is official yet:
Filed to ESPN: Suspended former Saints DC Gregg Williams already has met with Titans and is on verge of becoming Tennessee’s assistant HC.

I think we’d all heard ramblings from fans, though none had quite been saying that he should be assistant head coach, they had pushed for him as defensive coordinator. That was all just bar talk though, nothing that anyone thought would come under serious consideration, especially considering the fact that all of the Titans hirings have come from within this season.
Williams had been suspended this season thanks to the bounty gate scandal. That also cost him his contract with the Saints.
I have to say that I’m a little shocked to see the Titans bring him in, though I do see it as a good hiring. It’ll be interesting to watch the defense with both Gray and Williams working on it.
How does the news strike you? Are you excited to have Williams back in Tennessee?
