The Tennessee Titans drafted CB Ryan Mouton back in 2009 with their 3rd pick of the NFL draft. Mouton quickly found his way onto Titans fan’s bad side, my own included, thanks to some unforgivable mistakes in a September game against the New York Jets where his fumbles on returns cost the Titans the game.
Since then, things haven’t been much better. He couldn’t crack the starting lineup in 2010 and he spent all of 2011 on the IR. This year he has been in and out of the lineup with mixed results.
The Titans have another couple guys in Tommie Campbell and Coty Sensabaugh who seem just as good as Mouton, which makes him that much less valuable.
Mouton has been a good special teams player and even had a decent year, but I don’t believe he’s done enough to warrant another contract from the Titans. It’s still a possibility they give him one, but I don’t think they will.
He should find himself on another team for the next season, but his time with the Titans seems to be over. Unfortunately, the only real memory that I’ll ever really have of him is blowing the Jets game in his rookie year. That and watching him chase Patriots through a snowy Foxborough game. Yeah, he was on the field for that one too.
It’s just better this way.
