Tennessee Titans O-line Stetched Thin

The Tennessee Titans got bit hard by the injury bug this last week, sending two more key players to IR while a couple more are left nursing their injuries, hoping to be active for Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts.

Both starting OT David Stewart and OG Steve Hutchinson have been placed on IR, leaving the Titans with OG Deuce Lutui and OT Mike Otto to step in and try to fill the huge gap left on the line.

That hurts. Real bad. Like, OUCH. The Titans depth will be challenged with Velasco moving to guard and Matthews stepping in at center.

Most hurt by this could be the Titans young QB Jake Locker. We saw him running for his life against the Texans. That could become the usual for the rest of the season. One has to remain hopeful that that’s not the case, as such a case would be detrimental to both Jake Locker’s progress, as limited as it may be this year, and to a Titans offense transitioning under the direction of new OC Dowell Loggains.

There’s challenges galore ahead for this team. It’ll be interesting to see how they respond, especially since this team has fallen out of playoff contention. The last weeks of the season will show how much heart, or lack there of, that this team has.

The headache apparently continues for the Tennessee Titans. I wish I had better news to give you.

140 days until the 2013 NFL draft….
