Tennessee Titans' McCarthy Can't Catch a Break

The Tennessee Titans’ MLB Colin McCarthy just can’t seem to catch a break with injuries this year, it seems. The Tennessean reported yesterday that the MLB who has been hobbled by an ankle injury since game one has another injury to add to the list: a concussion.

Via The Tennessean:

Titans middle linebacker Colin McCarthy suffered a concussion in Sunday’s loss to Jacksonville.

He didn’t practice on Wednesday and Titans coach Mike Munchak said his status for Sunday will be determined by how he progresses the next couple of days.

“It’s one of those things where he seems to be getting better and seems to be fine, but I don’t know how that will all work out,” Munchak said.

What looked to be a breakout season for the young linebacker has been anything but. While his play hasn’t been horrid, his injuries have hindered his performance and lead to an overall disappointing season for him, leaving fans waiting for a fully health McCarthy next year.

It’s too bad. It would have been nice to see what this group of LB’s is capable of when fully healthy. We caught a glimpse of it in the Titans victory against the Miami Dolphins a few weeks ago, when all the LB’s came away with an interception, McCarthy’s being returned for a touchdown. They look like a promising group that could be the anchor of this defense moving forward, but only time will tell.

One of the biggest questions facing this defense is whether or not Jerry Gray will still be coaching it next season. We’ll see if he can help the Titans salvage the last half of this season and perhaps save his own job.
