Munchak Talks To Bud Adams; Has No Plans To Make Changes Among Staff

Following the aftermath of Bud Adams scathing indictment of the Tennessee Titans, Mike Munchak has been fielding many questions regarding the status of the teams coordinators and position coaches. Despite many Titans fans wanting to see replacements for Defensive Coordinator Jerry Gray and Offensive Coordinator Chris Palmer sooner than later, Munchak reaffirmed his stance that no coach was in danger of losing his job.

”We have to win football games right now. I’m not spending my time deciding on making coaching changes, and no, I’m not thinking of doing that.” – Mike Munchak

Needless to say, owner Bud Adams and Munchak met at length on Monday, and Munchak has shown to be understanding of his owners disappointment.

”I would probably have said the same thing if I were him. This is his team. He expects us to play well, especially at home. That’s our job. That’s my job to make sure we’re out there playing our best and winning games at home hopefully every time we line up.

”We didn’t play well, and I’d be upset too if I were him.” – Mike Munchak

Munchak has always been a classy guy, and I think he is the type to put all of the team’s faults on his own massive shoulders. However, I do think that the direction that Gray and Palmer have for the team is not a solid one, and if Munch can’t find a way to get this team on track, then Adams may look to a high priced replacement soon.

I still like Munchak, though, and I believe in his ability to steer the team in the right direction. I do think he’s going to need to make some changes to his staff to succeed, however.

If the OC and DC do not get fired, I will be stunned!

It may nor may not happen once the season ends. No way Munch does anything like that during the season, though. Let’s not forget this is the same coaching staff that led us to 9-7 last year.

Of course not during the season. According to Yahoo Sports, The Titans already have given up 308 points through nine games after allowing only 317 points all last season. The lack of a star CB that we currently have can not take all the blame, so I vote for coaching problems.

Yeah, for some reason no one seems to be responding right now. I think it may not necessarily be about football smarts, but rather the ability, or lack thereof, to motivate a very young team.

One thing that is overlooked is that the Titans didn’t learn Palmer’s offense or Gray’s defense last year….the lockout made it impossible. So there was more playing and less thinking…that could be something that has hindered the team on both sides of the ball.

Agreed. They just need to go play, though we need to do so without being penalized every other play.
