The Tennessee Titans have added a little bit of depth to the offensive line by signing veteran guard Deuce Lutui, formerly of the Arizona Cardinals. He was a 2nd round pick in 2006, coming out of USC. He’s been a starter for the Cardinals for quite a while, until recently of course. Here’s a quick look at his stats, via NFL.com:

Year Team G GS
2011 Arizona Cardinals 15 0
2010 Arizona Cardinals 16 16
2009 Arizona Cardinals 16 16
2008 Arizona Cardinals 16 16
2007 Arizona Cardinals 15 15
2006 Arizona Cardinals 15 9
TOTAL 93 72

He seems like a fairly valuable addition, surprisingly enough. He obviously has a lot of experience. From my understanding, he has had issues with weight, though I have read about him switching to a vegan diet, so who knows.

My first impression is this is a solid signing for an O-line sporting and injured Mike Otto and Leroy Harris. Harris was pulled late in the Titans game against the Patriots game due to some pain in his knee, so Tutui could actually see playing time early on if Harris’ knee continues to bother him.

Needless to say, this isn’t the magic addition that fixes the run game. That issue runs much deeper.
