Tennessee Titans Name Captains

The Tennessee Titans have officially named their captains for the 2012 NFL season. The two defensive captains are CB Jason McCourty and 2nd year MLB Colin McCarthy.

The two offensive captains are QB Jake Locker and OG Steve Hutchinson.

As for special teams, the ever-lovable LB Tim Shaw has once again been named captain.

Two of this year’s captains are players taken in last years draft (Locker and McCarthy). Since Munchak took over as the head coach of the Tennessee Titans they have been drafting based on speed, athleticism, and character.

Their drafting is obviously already paying off.

McCarthy is set to be a big play maker for the Titans and stepped in last year after MLB Barrett Ruud went down with an injury. Ever since then he has been a leader for this defense, so it’s not surprising to see him named captain.

McCourty has been behind Finnegan the past few years and with Finnegan being gone now, it appears McCourty has shouldered the role of leading the backfield.

I love all of these picks. The Titans have some good players with good heads on their shoulders and there are plenty of other players deserving of the honor, but these guys will serve them fine.

Two days until kickoff!
