Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean is reporting that the NFL has decided on Kenny Britt’s suspension. According to Wyatt’s sources, Britt is receiving only a one-game suspension.
That’s some great news for the Tennessee Titans. As John Glennon has noted, Britt was going to have limited snaps against the New England Patriots anyways, so the suspension doesn’t really change much for the Titans. They do finally know, however, that they will have Kenny Britt for the rest of their games. Now it’s just a matter of using him in a way that doesn’t over exert him early on. The last thing they need from Britt is another injury.
If Britt can return to form, he’ll be a tremendous help to QB Jake Locker as he takes over. Britt has been a sure target in the past and demanded respect from defenses. With Britt, Wright, Washington, and Williams, as well as TE Jared Cook lining up out there, Jake Locker has a prime opportunity to flourish.
Now the question is, did Goodell really have to wait almost a month to hand out a one-game suspension?
