Tennessee Titans: What's Up With Derrick Morgan?

The Tennessee Titans need Derrick Morgan to be that 16th pick they used on him a couple of years ago. Jimmy over at MusicCityMiracles.com brought up the topic this morning and now I stuck thinking about it.

Jimmy asked whether we should be ringing the panic bell. Pannel Egboh has been taking a lot of Derrick Morgan’s first team reps at the DE position. Obviously, that’s not something you want to be seeing. You want Morgan to be tearing it up out on the field and the coaches to be raving about the bounds and strides he’s been making in camp.

I had noticed that Egboh had been taking some first team reps, but I took it more as a sign of Egboh’s improvement, as a player I liked last preseason who ended up spending the 2011 season on the practice squad. It does raise a bit of concern over Morgan, though, despite nothing being mentioned by the coaches. It’s at least something to keep an eye on.

In other news, today’s practice will be the first practice that Kendall Wright will be able to fully participate in. I can’t wait to see how he does in the team drills. It’ll also be interesting to see how well he works with Hasselbeck and Locker.

On a sadder note, Jared Cook and Damian Williams are excused from practice today as they attend O.J. Murdock’s funeral in Tampa Bay. My heart goes out to you guys. It’s never easy burying a friend.
