Tennessee Titans Center Eugene Amano Out For Season

Kevin Hoffman-US PRESSWIRE

The situation at Center has just gotten more interesting, as presumptive starter Eugene Amano was revealed to have a torn Tricep and will be out for the entire season. Now, there has been a lot of controversy regarding Amano after he was judged by many to be among the worst-performing Centers in the league. However, anytime you lose a player at any starting position, that hurts the team.

Munchak and his staff have made a number of shrewd assessments during their tenure, and if they agreed that Eugene Amano gave us the best chance to win, then you can be certain that he gave us the best chance to win. With Amano going down, the team as a whole suffers.

Thankfully, Fernando Velasco and Kevin Matthews are both players that have the potential to be capable starters at the position. Velasco will be penciled in as the starter in light of Amano’s loss, with Matthews pushing him for the job. We’ll keep you informed of any new developments here at Titan Sized.

Honestly, I wanted Amano out of the center position…but not like this. I wish he could have been moved over to guard to replace Harris, but that is clearly not an option now. Hopefully the young guys can step up and be better than Amano was last year….that shouldn’t be too difficult.

Exactly my sentiments. I think Velasco will do fine in his stead, hopefully.

  • Jason Peters

Yeah, he performed well enough at Guard to get his extension…he seemed a much more natural fit there…Plus Munch believed in him clearly, at least as the best of possibly a weak bunch.

Yup. I was hoping to see him shift over this year, though it was doubtful with how stubborn Munch can be with this line.
