The Tennessee Titans have placed their rookie FS Markelle Martin on their physically unable to perform list after he failed his physical yesterday when all the Tennessee Titans rookies reported for training camp.
Martin hasn’t fully recovered from an injury he suffered to his knee during the NFL Combine earlier this year. Martin will be taken off that list when he can pass a physical and is expected to return before the end of camp.
It’s a little bothersome to see that his knee is still bothering him this many months later. The Titans are a little thin at safety, though they have recently added veteran safety Aaron Francisco. We’re all still waiting to see if the Titans will ever get anything out of third year player Robert Johnson.
Martin was a steal for the Titans as they took him in the 6th round of the draft. Martin had grades on him as high as the 3rd round. I wasn’t personally impressed with his tape, but I didn’t disagree with taking him because of the value he presented so late in the draft.
Hopefully Martin will get his knee right, sooner rather than later, so that we get to see him get some time on the field during preseason.
Training camp starts in four days.
