In a move that comes a shock to anyone that’s ever followed Tennessee Titans football, NFL Network analyst Warren Sapp (that’s hard to write without laughing, BTW) recently unveiled his pick for the “under-the-radar team” that would surprise audiences in 2012, and it was none other than the Tennessee Titans.
It’s nice to see the Titans get some long overdue credit. With our burgeoning mobile quarterback, the re-birth of CJ2K (Not CJ1k, or even CJ1.5K. The man did something only five others in history did; let’s give him some credit), and the veteran leadership and ability of Hutch, not to mention the young speedster Wright, our offense should be explosive and push defenses back on their heels. Our defense is still at least a couple years away from being explosive, but they will play sound and aggressive football, and should look to confuse offenses with some creative looks from Jerry Gray.
Lest you think that it’s all sunshine and lollipops, Paul K is here with a more sobering potential reality that sees us going 7-9, missing the playoffs in the process.
As excited as I am for the Titans, it will be interesting to see if we are relegated to another season of just missing the playoffs, or if we will see the team start to reach it’s true potential. As long as significant progress is made, I think we can realistically look forward to being a much more complete team in 2013, but taking a number of very positive steps forward during our brutal campaign this year.
