It wasn’t that long ago that the Tennessee Titans were plagued by quarterback controversy, wondering if the quarterback they had taken with the third pick of the 2006 NFL draft would ever step up and be the guy they drafted him to be.
As we all know, that never happened. A continuous battle between Kerry Collins and Vince Young went on for years and was a dividing factor amongst fans. Often enough, neither was a consistent factor for the Titans, leading the Titans to very inconsistent records.
Thankfully, that time has ended.
With Jake Locker and Matt Hasselbeck, no one has the lingering question as to whether we have someone capable of playing the quarterback position at a high level. The Titans have two quarterbacks capable of that now and they have a young quarterback who has shown tremendous promise in his rookie outings. The Titans finally have a promising future after struggling through almost four years of up and down seasons.
The biggest question surrounding the quarterback position remains a familiar one though. Who will start? This time there shouldn’t be near as much worry about it. Whoever gets the nod is more than capable of leading a Titans offense, one that may be the best one fielded in the past decade, to a more than respectable record. That being said, most Titans fans are eager to see more of Jake Locker.
I’m just glad I’m not stressing over that position anymore. Now about the play at safety….
