Tennessee Titans CB Ryan Mouton appears to be recovering well from the torn ACL he suffered this past season.
I hadn’t heard much on Mouton until this morning when I discovered this Rapid Report from CBS:
DC Jerry Gray has been pleased with CB Ryan Mouton‘s recovery from a torn Achilles. Mouton will compete for the starting nickel spot. “He’s doing a good job in individual drills,” Gray said. “He’s a little rusty on the technique but has some quickness. Hopefully, he can stay down in his backpedal and keep his arms in, not outside.”
The biggest thing to take away from that is the technique problem. I think that has always been Mouton’s biggest fault and why we haven’t seen much from the former third-round pick out of Hawaii.
While Jason McCourty has started to flourish, Mouton hasn’t really done the same, though his ACL certainly hasn’t helped either.
This offseason is crucial for Mouton. If he doesn’t prove himself valuable he could very well find himself looking for another job elsewhere. The Titans already have the likes of Verner, McCourty, Campbell, Hawkins, and rookie Coty Sensabaugh.
There isn’t a lot of space for a third-year player still trying to prove himself.
