Tennessee Titans Pick TE/DE Taylor Thomson With the 145th Pick of 2012 NFL Draft

The Tennessee Titans traded their 7th round pick to move up ten spots to the 145th pick to take a DE who recently converted to a TE, Taylor Thompson. This would appear to be the Titans giving TE Daniel Graham the axe after a disappointing one season with the Titans.

I’m still scratching my head over this one. TE is a much smaller need than OL and this guys is project TE. I’m not exactly sure why the Titans went this route.

He did make USAToday’s sleeper list:

TE Taylor Thompson, SMU: The Dallas Cowboys, New York Jets and Baltimore Ravens were the three teams to work out the all-conference defensive end as a tight end after his pro day workout. Thompson showed good hands and flashed the 4.55-second speed for 40 yards to grow into a downfield playmaker.

The Titans have one more pick remaining in the draft.
