December 20, 2011; St. Petersburg, FL, USA; Marshall Thundering Herd defensive lineman Vinny Curry (99) celebrates a sack against the Florida International Panthers in the Beef
The first round of the 2012 NFL draft is over and done with. We got a play maker in Kendall Wright. The Receiving corps is stacked, throw in Chris Johnson and Jared Cook and Tennessee’s offense should be deadly. The Titans still have holes to fill, but I think the best player available train is going to keep on churning. With needs at defensive end, defensive tackle, cornerback and interior offensive line, expect the Titans to take the best player on the board that plays one of those positions. There are plenty of talented prospects still available and below are a few that might hear their names with one of Tennessee’s two draft picks. The Tennessee Titans own #52 in the second round and #82 in the third round.
Defensive End
-Courtney Upshaw, Alabama
-Vinny Curry, Marshall
-Cam Johnson, UVA
-Tyrone Crawford, Boise State
Defensive Tackle
-Jerel Worthy, Michigan State
-Devon Still, Penn. State
-Brandon Thompson, Clemson
Cornerback
-Janoris Jenkins, North Alabama
-Trumaine Johnson, Montana
-Brandon Boykin, UGA
- Alfonzo Dennard, CB, Nebraska
Center
- Peter Konz, Wisconsin
- Ben Jones, UGA
-Philip Blake, Baylor
Guard
- Amini Silatolu, Midwestern State
-Kelechi Osemele, Iowa State
Any of these guys would be excellent pickups in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. The media-hyped first round is over with, the rest of the picks is how championship teams are made.
Honorable Mention: Bobby Wagner, OLB, Utah State and Zach Brown, OLB, North Carolina
